Meet Jessica Shannon:
There are so many things that I love and am thankful for in my life - my husband, rainy days, hot showers, traveling to Costa Rica, flip-flops, vintage stores, hot coffee and amazing friends. I am a wife to a caring and patient husband, a mom to two spoiled pooches, an event planner/professional fundraiser and an avid story-teller through photographs. Working with my husband has given me an outlet to create, connect and to dream.
I have been a photographer since I was 13 and first laid my hands on my grandma’s old Olympus. After working in various photo finishing labs and photo studios, I discovered that there was more to photography than knowing how to pose the perfect picture. I wanted to create a unique portrait experience in an organic setting, challenging me to be better, more creative and to think faster. I also decided that I wanted to provide my clients with a unique product that was a true representation of themselves.
There is a quote I came across and I feel that it so accurately depicts the stage I’m at in my life and the personal meaning I have for my work:
“The urge to create, the urge to photograph comes in part from the deep desire to live with more integrity, to live more in peace with the world and to possibly help others do the same.” – Wynn Bullock
I love meeting our clients and discovering their unique qualities. The best part of my job is building lasting relationships with the amazing people who invite me into their lives to capture their most important memories. Those memories always touch me. I love learning from them and carrying them with me.
Meet Tyler Shannon:
How does that song go? “The best things in life are free . . .” It’s those days spent with friends at a CSU football game, seeing my wife smile, watching a Costa Rican sunset, or simply being behind a camera capturing memories, that will be the moments I always remember. If we could photograph for free, we would. If I could quit my day job and just spend my life behind the shutter of my Nikon, I would. But the bills don’t pay themselves. It’s because we truly enjoy turning a memory into a masterpiece that he level of quality we provide our clients is at a cost less than half the price of equivalent photographers.
My dream is to be able to spend the cold Colorado winters shooting wedding photography at our villa in Costa Rica and supporting the orphans at our orphanage we are opening a few miles away. Only to return to Colorado in the Summer and Fall to spend May through November shooting weddings and portraits while watching a lot of football and enjoying a cold frosty beverage in the company of my friends. It is a dream only realized by the help and support of our clients. We need your help getting our name out there, recommending us to friends and family, and linking our websites all over the web.
My grandfather has always been my mentor because he puts so much passion and heart into everything he does. We know there are hundreds of photographers out there and our clients consider a lot of photographers before making their choice. At the end of the day you get one photography team to capture your memories in the way that you dreamed. If the photographer screws it up, there are no second chances. It is a memory gone and passed. I hope that all of our potential clients will see our passion and understanding of this fact, to at least give us a chance to show why we believe we are the best photographers in Colorado.
Photography was never really my thing until I started shooting with my wife. I just never really appreciated the value of a memory on paper. Then, I quickly realized I had a talent for the creative shot. The ability to imagine what a shot would look like if taken laying on the ground looking up through the long grass, or across the stream looking down at a couple with the sun glistening off the water. All of the sudden posing became easy. I became part of creating the memory. Standing side-by-side is boring. But a creative mess where no one looks in the same direction and is posed in a way that fits each person’s attitude and emotion is a masterpiece. If you want a photographer that will put you in a straight line and capture every time you can fake smile or are forced to kiss at the ding of a glass, you will want to hire someone else. In fact, I can recommend a few (one shot our wedding, he had a beautiful portfolio but he must have quit caring about the art of photography long ago). The truth is most photographers are of this type. They just want to get done with the shoot so they can edit and move on to the next wad of cash. That’s not the case with us since we value our clients too much. We appreciate the emotion of the day you are letting us be part of and want to get to know the true you so we can be your photographers forever. You let us into your lives, so it seems fitting we should return the favor by providing photography that tells the story of those lives.
